Everton brought in both Andre Gomes and Lucas Digne from Barcelona in the summer.

Andre Gomes has told the Liverpool Echo that he sought the advice of Lucas Digne prior to joining Everton in the summer.

Gomes and Digne both moved from Everton from Barcelona last year, and it was the left-back who was first to make the switch.

Gomes was then targeted by the Toffees and before he agreed to the move, the Portuguese international was keen to seek the advice of his former teammate.

“I asked Lucas what it was like when he came here. I asked him about the training ground, the Academy, everything about the club,” he said.

“It was totally different because I knew Lucas much better than Marco and I think everything helped but Marco had the crucial impact, I would say.”

Gomes and Digne have both gone on to be brilliant signings for Everton, with the pair proving to be two of Marco Silva’s side’s most consistent performers this season.

Everton are working on making Gomes’ transfer from Barcelona a permanent one, but they are set to face competition.

The Telegraph have suggested that Tottenham Hotspur are ready to try and beat Everton to £30 million-rated Gomes’ signature in the summer, as his form has caught the eye of Mauricio Pochettino.

Gomes and Digne are both set to be in action for Everton on Sunday, when the Toffees take on Arsenal.
