Everton were said to be tracking Bertrand Traore, but the winger moved from Chelsea to Lyon.
According to a report in the Telegraph, Bertrand Traore has moved to Lyon from Chelsea for just £8.8 million.
Traore completed a move to France yesterday, with Lyon moving quickly this summer to snap him up.
And Everton may be left to look back on the transfer with regret that they did not snap up the Burkina Faso international winger.
Everton’s long-held interest in Traore has been reported by the Daily Star.
The Toffees have regularly checked up on the 21-year-old, and have been impressed by his performances.
Traore was on loan at Ajax last season, and he had a hugely impressive spell in the Eredivsie.
And, given the state of the current market, he could turn out to be a real bargain.
Traore, at just under £9 million, is unlikely to lose much value if he fails to develop at Lyon.
Yet, the reward for the French side could be massive – if they have able to harness his obvious potential.
Traore has pace and power in abundance, and Everton may wish they have rivalled Lyon for the attacker’s signature in the years ahead.
