Everton want Maxwel Cornet but Burnley have now rejected their attempts to take the Ivorian on loan with a view to a permanent deal.
The Toffees have to be smart in the transfer market this summer due to the limited budget at Frank Lampard’s disposal.
Everton have swooped to sign one Burnley player following their relegation to the Championship this past season.
James Tarkowski has arrived on a free transfer upon the expiration of his contract and one of his former Clarets teammates is now wanted too.
Everton want Maxwel Cornet
Lampard has set his sights on Burnley wide man Maxwel Cornet as he looks to reinvest some of the cash from Richarlison’s move to Tottenham.
Richarlison is mostly seen as a striker but his ability to play on the left flank too means Everton will want a versatile attacker.
Cornet certainly fits the bill and Everton have made the first move for the Ivory Coast International.
The Sun report that Everton tried to take Cornet on loan with a view to signing him permanently next summer if the Toffees stay up.
Cornet is understood to have an £18million release clause in his contract and Burnley will seemingly stick to that if they are to let him go.

That means Everton will have to dig deep for Cornet’s signature and there will be no loan-to-buy deals considered by Burnley.
Hailed as ‘unbelievable’ by Kolo Toure, Cornet joined Burnley from Lyon last summer and made an instant impact in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old racked up nine goals and 26 Premier League outings for Burnley, playing either on the left flank or behind the striker.
Cornet will likely end up back in the Premier League having made such a positive impression in the top flight last term.
Burnley won’t be bullied though – as seen with the sale of Nathan Collins to Wolverhampton Wanderers – and Everton will have to find the cash and fend off major competition if they are to bring Cornet to Goodison Park.
