The Toffees head to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to face Spurs in Sunday’s Premier League finale.
Everton manager Marco Silva has given his thoughts ahead of his side’s Premier League trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the final game of the season, giving his opinion on Spurs’ new ground and their fans.
The Toffees are preparing to see out a bittersweet season in which some truly amazing performances, such as the 4-0 win over Manchester United, have been offset by inconsistency and several poor results, culminating in a mid-table finish no higher than eighth and bereft of European football.
Tottenham, meanwhile, have endured arguably an even more up-and-down season, with some lows – the stadium delays, frustration in the transfer market, their title hopes crumbling in February – and some highs – the stadium move and their incredible run to the Champions League final.
Given how dangerous the Lilywhites’ attack is and also playing on their turf, there has been speculation suggesting that Silva would look to approach the game against Mauricio Pochettino’s side with a view to getting a point.
The Portuguese strongly refuted such claims, telling the official Everton website: “No, it is not our way, never, never, never,. We are preparing to try to win the game. I know it will be really tough. They are a strong side and what they achieved on Wednesday was fantastic for them.
“I know they will come to play the match to win. And we will do the same, in a fantastic stadium – and a fantastic atmosphere, for sure. Their fans will give them what they deserve and our fans will be there like always. It will be a good game, I think.”
The Toffees are unbeaten in three games and have claimed 20 points from their past 10 Premier League fixtures.
