Everton boss Sam Allardyce is keen to bring in a new striker in the January transfer window.

Sam Allardyce has admitted to Sky Sports that he is far more relaxed about Everton’s striking situation now.

Everton have scored 11 goals in the five games he has been in charge for, with their attacking and defensive performances improving.

The Toffees are still unbeaten since Allardyce took charge, and all of a sudden their transfer priority have changed.

Allardyce quickly stated his desire to sign a striker, after becoming Everton boss.

And while he would like a new number nine, Allardyce admits that he is no rush anymore, as he needs to make sure who he recruits is of an exceptional standard.

“Yes, a frontman, if there’s another goalscorer. I’m hugely pleased with what Dominic [Calvert-Lewin] has done this season, and if there is a striker around in January who is good enough for Everton is another matter,” he said.

“We’ve scored 11 goals in the last five games, we’ve kept a number of clean sheets.

“Really, after that, if all the players can get fit who are injured, I’m not sure we have to do too much business after that and see where we go.”

Calvert-Lewin has been leading the line for Everton, and it seems that only a significant upgrade will be considered by Allardyce now.

That could make a move for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang even more likely.

Allardyce has already suggested that a move for Aubameyang is possible in the January transfer window.

And although the transfer seems unlikely, with the pressure reduced on Everton, they can now test the water, without fearing too much if they do miss out on the Gabon international.
