Romelu Lukaku scored a hat-trick for Everton, as they beat Sunderland yesterday.
Ronald Koeman has told the Independent that he is pleased to hear that Everton striker Romelu Lukaku is demanding better of himself.
Lukaku scored a hat-trick as Everton stormed past Sunderland at the Stadium of Light yesterday evening, but when questioned after the match the Belgian international did not seem entirely satisfied.
Lukaku stated that he needed to become more clinical in front of goal, if he was to reach his full potential.
And Koeman was pleased to hear that his star striker was setting such high standards for himself.
“It’s not bad to be critical of yourself,” he said. “He knows he can improve. He is 23 years old and we work a lot with him, but also with the rest of the strikers.”
Lukaku’s goals yesterday evening were his first since March – ending the longest drought of his professional career.
The powerful striker was back to his best against Sunderland, with his power causing David Moyes’ side all sorts of problems.
Lukaku’s goals helped Everton continue their fine start to the campaign, which has raised expectations even further around Goodison Park.
Everton are currently up to third in the Premier League table, and remain unbeaten after four games.
