Everton manager Marco Silva has spoken highly of Leicester City defender Harry Maguire to The Telegraph.

Maguire is set to feature for Leicester in their Premier League game against Everton at the King Power Stadium this afternoon.

The 25-year-old central defender – who earns £80,000 per week as salary, according to The Sun – worked with current Everton manager Silva at Hull City.

Silva has praised the former Sheffield United centre-back, who has been on the books of Leicester since the summer of 2017 when he joined from Hull for an initial transfer fee reported by The Telegraph to be worth £12 million.

“When I joined Hull, he didn’t play enough matches until that point,” Silva told The Telegraph about Maguire. “He was third choice behind Michael Dawson and Curtis Davies.

“With me he played always. I saw in him fantastic qualities to achieve something really important in the future. He’s a very good player, he’s strong, he has quality.

“He had many things to improve because he didn’t play at a high level when he was younger and he’s achieved it through hard work.”

Interestingly, former Everton manager Sam Allardyce told talkSPORT in August 2018 that the Toffees could have signed Maguire before he left Hull for Leicester in the summer transfer window (click here to read more).

Maguire has developed into a superb defender, and the 25-year-old was brilliant for England at the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia in the summer.
