Everton have signed Richarlison from Watford in the summer transfer window.
The Toffees have signed Richarlison from Premier League rivals Watford for a transfer fee reported by The Telegraph to be worth £40 million.
Silva worked with the 21-year-old winger at Watford, and the former Hull City manager has explained why he has brought the Brazilian winger to Goodison Park.
The Everton manager made the comments following the Merseyside outfit’s pre-season friendly match against Blackburn Rovers on Thursday evening.
The 21-year-old Brazilian winger featured for Everton in the match agains Blackburn.
Silva told Everton’s official website about Richarlison: “He’s settled in over these first two days. I know him very well. He’s one more player to improve our squad and to create competition is important for me.
“He’s a different winger to what we have, he can give us different options. We need to support him but he’ll have a good impact on our squad.”
Good signing for Everton?
Richarlison had a rather inconsistent season for Watford last season; he started the campaign well, but faded away gradually.
The youngster is young and talented, and since Silva knows the Brazilian well, Everton fans should be confident about seeing the best of the 21-year-old.
Everton will be aiming to break into the top six of the Premier League next season.
