West Ham United are confident David Moyes will turn down a return to Premier League rivals Everton in favour of a new contract at the London Stadium, as reported by The Standard.
While some may argue the Scot has unfinished business at Goodison Park, eight years after he walked away from the ‘People’s Club’ to take on the ‘impossible job’ at Old Trafford, it seems the man himself sees things differently.
Moyes has silenced his army of critics during a season of dramatic overperformance at West Ham, guiding a club that survived relegation by the skin of its teeth last term into the Europa League places against all odds.
And, according to reports from the capital, a revitalised Moyes has no intention of turning his back on the Hammers in favour of a second spell at a club that finished four places and six points worse off than the Hammers in 2020/21.
Would Moyes opt for Everton over West Ham?
The unexpected departure of Carlo Ancelotti means Everton have suddenly found themselves in a familiar if unwelcome position, chasing a sixth manager in five years.
Moyes remains a legendary figure to many on the blue half of Merseyside, having presided over nine top-seven finishes during his spell as Toffees boss.

West Ham, however, have no concerns the 58-year-old will be tempted by a return to the club where he made his name as a top-level tactician.
Moyes is instead expected to sign a new three-year deal at a club that will soon be playing European football for the first time since 2016.
Just don’t mention Astra Giurgiu.
Neville: West Ham were ‘outstanding’
“West Ham were consistent all season,” Sky pundit Gary Neville said after Moyes secured a very creditable sixth–place finish, via Football London.
“An outstanding performance. They flirted with the Champions League but you always felt they were just going to drop out at the last. But this is a really good season.”
