According to a report, Bolton had put a £4m price tag on Turner last year, much to the surprise of the Toffees and the Red Devils.
Everton and Manchester United were linked with young Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Jake Turner last year, The Sun reporting that the Whites had slapped on a £4million price tag on the then 18-year-old academy ace, much to the surprise of the Premier League duo.
However, it appears that Turner is no longer contracted to Bolton, who published a list of players still contracted to the club on Thursday morning, which features just 14 professionals or third year scholars – and the young stopper is not amongst the names, so the Toffees and the Red Devils could potentially be able to snap him up for free.
Turner came through the ranks at the Lancashire club, has been capped by England Under-18s – keeping a clean sheet on his debut – and Under-19s, and has appeared regularly in Bolton’s Under-23 side (Transfermarkt), and although he did not make a senior appearance, he is deemed one for the future.
Everton and Man United had reportedly earmarked the 20-year-old for their academy sides, and with both teams boasting great youth and reserve setups – the Toffees did the Premier League 2 and Cup double last term – Turner would be in great hands should he link up with either of them.
Bolton endured a difficult season in 2018-19, experiencing relegation from the Championship and suffering financial issues which have led to administration (official website) and a 12-point deduction going into the 2019-20 League One campaign (Chronicle Live).
