Con Ouzounidis has endeared himself to Everton supporters, before he has even played a game for the club, by joking about Liverpool’s failure to win the Premier League title on Twitter.

Everton fans were delighted yesterday when Manchester City lifted the Premier League trophy ahead of Liverpool.

The Reds ended up finishing just one point behind City in the table, and Everton defender Ouzounidis was only too happy to revel in Jurgen Klopp’s side failure to lift silverware.

The tweet went down very well at Goodison Park, with supporters praising him.

Ouzounidis was part of the Everton under-23 side who lifted the title this season.

The Australian defender has made appearances up to under-23 level for his country.

Liverpool were unable to win the title yesterday as City beat Brighton & Hove Albion on the last day.

Everton, meanwhile, picked up a point against Tottenham Hotspur after a 2-2 draw at White Hart Lane.

Marco Silva’s side finished the season in eighth place in the Premier League table.
