Everton and West Ham United have both been linked with Celtic starlet Anthony Ralston in recent times.
According to a recent report from ESPN, Everton are amongst the Premier League sides chasing a deal for Celtic right-back Anthony Ralston.
One of the sides that the Toffees look set to come up against in the race to sign Ralston is West Ham, with The Sun reporting during the final days of the transfer window that the 18-year-old is on the Hammers’ radar.
With Everton and the Irons seemingly both in the race to sign the Bhoys youngster, the Toffees may perhaps feel that they now have an opportunity to exact revenge on their top flight rivals after West Ham won the race for another right-back back in January 2016.
The Daily Mail confirmed during that window that Sam Byram had turned down Everton ahead of making a move to join Slaven Bilic’s side.
While Byram has not exactly made Everton rue the fact that they missed out, the circumstances that led to him choosing West Ham – the Mail reports that he agreed personal terms with the Goodison Park outfit before heading elsewhere – may leave the Toffees particularly determined to ensure that they put a much more attractive offer together for Ralston.
And given how much potential the young Celtic defender appears to boast, beating West Ham – and the rest of the interested sides – to his signature would certainly not be the only reason that signing him would be particularly pleasing for Ronald Koeman.
