Zouma joined Everton from Chelsea on loan this summer.
Kurt Zouma has told The Guardian that he wants to break into Chelsea’s first team after joining the Toffees on a season-long loan from Maurizio Sarri’s side.
Zouma, 23, finally joined Everton on a season-long loan from Chelsea, a deal which was confirmed a day after the deadline struck on August 9.
The two-time France international is yet to start for Everton, coming on with a minute remaining in the 2-2 draw against Bournemouth on Saturday but he is in line to start this weekend after Michael Keane suffered a fracture to his skull.
The Guardian claim there is no permanent option in Zouma’s deal, and the former St. Etienne defender is keen to return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season and is keen to show at Goodison Park he is worthy of a place at Chelsea.
“I will go back, yes,” Zouma said. “I have always believed in myself since I started playing football at 16. I have always wanted to show myself at Chelsea since I have been there.
“I know my injuries stopped me in the way I wanted to play but injuries are part of football and I want to show people I can come back and play there. That’s why I need some game time at Everton here because they are a good team.”
Zouma suffered an anterior cruciate ligament during his time at Chelsea and that saw him plummet down the pecking order, before joining Stoke City on loan last season where he failed to prevent the Potters from being relegated.
The likes of Gary Cahill, David Luiz, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christiansen remain above Zouma in the pecking order at Chelsea, but a strong season at Everton could turn Sarri’s head at Chelsea.
