Everton goalkeeper Joao Virginia has been loaned out to Reading

Everton youngster Joao Virginia’s loan spell at Reading has gone from bad to worse already.
Virginia was brought to Reading from Everton over the summer, with Marco Silva hoping to get the goalkeeper game-time.
Silva went on record last season to suggest that Virginia was simply too talented to keep in Everton’s reserve team.
But it seems that he has simply swapped one development squad for another after moving to Reading.
Virginia started the Royals first two Championship matches but was very shaky, and conceded five goals in those appearances.
Reading have since promoted Rafael Cabral to first choice stopper, with Virginia having to spend time on the bench.
The Everton loanee may have been hoping for a chance to prove his worth in the cup last night, with Jose Gomes making changes.

However, Gomes went with Sam Walker over Virginia, with the 19-year-old forced to spend time on the sidelines again.
And it’s fair to say that Everton and Virginia are unlikely to be best pleased with the way his loan spell has started.
