Everton have been linked with both Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser in recent times.
It was reported by The Sun at the weekend that Everton have joined the race to sign Callum Wilson from Bournemouth this summer, with the England international valued at around £40 million.
The rumours may have been slightly concerning for Toffees supporters. Wilson has scored 30 Premier League goals, including 11 this term. But his injury record makes a £40 million bid look like a gamble, especially as he is 27 years of age.
Meanwhile, The Sun on Sunday (10/3; page 61) reported earlier in the month that the Toffees also had their eye on Wilson’s Bournemouth teammate Ryan Fraser, and were weighing up making a £20 million bid for the wide-man.
At 25, Fraser is not a youngster either. But given his remarkable return of 10 assists in the Premier League this season – only Eden Hazard has contributed more – it appears that he could be a very good addition to Marco Silva’s squad if he does head to Goodison Park.
And while there may be concerns about Wilson in particular, perhaps there is one statistic that should excite Everton fans about the possibility of both men being signed during the summer.
The pair actually make up the most lethal pairing in the Premier League this season. Fraser has assisted Wilson on five occasions this term, while the striker has repaid the Scotland international four times.
Three other players have assisted the same player for four goals this term, but none have matched Wilson’s tally of five created by Fraser.
Signing both therefore, could be a very smart move from Everton as they clearly have an understanding that would probably allow them to settle in on Merseyside much sooner than expected.
