Expect Davy Klaassen to stay with Everton if Marcel Brands is appointed.

Everton are reportedly in talks with PSV Eindhoven director of football Marcel Brands about joining their recruitment team, according to The Mirror.

Brands has built a big reputation in Holland and attracting him would be a coup for the Toffees.

His appointment would also be good news for £24 million flop Davy Klaassen.

Klaassen signed from Ajax in the summer but has failed to settle at Everton and has even failed to make the substitute’s bench some weeks.

This has led to speculation over his future, but if Brands is appointed his future looks clear, he will be staying put.

Brands raved about Klaassen 12 months ago, admitting he would love it if he could have had him at PSV.

He told Voetball Flitsen: “Klaassen at Ajax is an excellent player, but you also see that we already have a lot of quality at the midfield.”

Brands also responded to a question about Eredivisie player’s struggles in England earlier this season, which focused around Klaassen’s lack of progress.

He told AD.nl: “Part of the problem is players leave too soon. The Eredivisie is very close to dropping down a category.”

Brands rates Klaassen highly, and it would be a shock if he sanctioned his sale.

Instead it is more likely he would be involved in recruitment of players which would specifically help the side build around him, in efforts to get the best out of him, and the attacker would be given more time to prove himself and adjust to the Premier League.
