Everton have entered the race to sign Wilfried Zaha, long standing target for Tottenham.
Everton are the latest side to be interested in signing Wilfried Zaha, according to The Sun.
Everton have been aggressive in the transfer market over the past year, spending big money on Cenk Tosun, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Davy Klaassen.
Not all of their big signings have yet worked out, but the Toffees have got into the habit of not taking no for an answer.
Zaha would be a tremendous addition, proven in the Premier League, and in need of a fresh challenge.
A big move from Everton for Zaha would leave Tottenham asking serious questions.
Spurs have been chasing Zaha since 2016, with The Guardian reporting a derisory offer was dismissed by Crystal Palace.
Palace also cut off Tottenham’s interest last summer by offering Zaha a bumper contract worth £120,000 per week.
This is an amount which causes problems for Spurs, as it’s a base salary above the amount Harry Kane earns as Tottenham’s highest paid player.
Everton have already demonstrated willingness to go beyond this, The Mail report they are paying Wayne Rooney close to £150,000 per week.
The Toffees can offer Zaha at least a match in terms of what he is getting at Palace, and may be prepared to go higher.
Missing out on him would leave Tottenham fans frustrated and seeing a top target signing for another Premier League side, and it would also ask further questions of their wage strategy.
Perhaps with a willingness to extend the amount they are prepared to pay, Zaha would already be a Tottenham player.
