Rodney Marsh is not impressed with Everton’s efforts to sign Wayne Rooney from Manchester United.
Everton have been the Premier League’s biggest spenders so far this summer, and are looking to make more signings before the season kicks off.
High on their list is their former striker Wayne Rooney, with BBC Sport reporting talks are ongoing with Manchester United to re-sign the 31-year-old.

Rooney is coming off the back of his worst ever season as a professional, in which he only scored three goals in the Premier League from open play.
If he can re-capture his old form it would be a great signing, but there is a real fear that he is past it, and the signing could backfire on the Toffees, even if it is a gamble they are willing to take.
Former England international turned pundit Rodney Marsh believes Everton’s move for Rooney is a bad signing.

Commenting on Twitter, he said that if Rooney is not wanted by United, he shouldn’t be regarded as good enough for Everton either, and questioned their ambition.
The spending will mean Everton fans expect an improvement on last season’s creditable campaign, and that means a sustained and serious push to get into the top four and earn a Champions League place.
Rooney has plenty of motivation to go and prove people wrong if he does make the move. Marsh’s comments will only fuel that fire.
