Everton midfielder and Sheffield United loanee Kieran Dowell gave an interview for the Championship side’s last matchday programme in which he admitted that two of his teammates at his parent club still have the Blades on their mind.

The 21-year-old completed a loan switch from Goodison Park to Bramall Lane in January after agreeing terms at the end of 2018 (BBC Sport) and has made eight appearances in all competitions for United, including seven in the Championship (Transfermarkt).

Dowell was asked by UTB whether any former Blades and current Toffees had any bearing on his decision to move to the South Yorkshire club and he responded by name-dropping Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Phil Jagielka.

The former came through the ranks at United before joining Everton in 2016 and the latter is also a Blades academy graduate who made close to 250 senior appearances for them before joining the Toffees in 2007.

“Before I came, I spoke a lot with Dom and also Phil Jagielka,” said Dowell in the UTB programme for the game against Reading.

“Both know this club inside out and I still speak nearly every day with Dom. I spoke to him about the city, the club and he spoke really highly of both. Jags had a bit more to say, he’s been a two-club man with Sheffield United and Everton and he still speaks fondly about the Blades, so that helped.”

Dowell, an England Under-21 international, came through the ranks at Everton, has made five senior appearances for the Toffees, and is valued by Transfermarkt at 3 million Euro, or approximately £2.6million.
