The Toffees academy graduate has left Goodison Park and moved to Wigan Athletic.

Everton legend Kevin Campbell has taken to Twitter to praise Toffees academy graduate Joe Williams following his permanent move to Wigan Athletic (official Everton website).
The 22-year-old joined Everton aged seven and rose through the ranks before playing a leading role as the Under-23s secured the inaugural Premier League 2 title in 2016-17.
Williams has spent the last two campaigns on loan in the Championship, playing 29 times for Bolton Wanderers last season, and 38 times for Barnsley the season before.
The midfielder was named on the first-team bench for a Europa League encounter with FK Krasnodar in 2014 and again for several fixtures towards the end of the 2017-18 season, but never made a senior Blues appearance (official Everton website).
According to the Liverpool Echo, he was wanted by other Championship clubs as well as sides in the Bundesliga but chose to make the move to the DW Stadium where he joins up with Antonee Robinson, who left the Blues for Wigan earlier this summer.

Williams who makes the switch from Goodison Park to Wigan for an undisclosed fee, is rated “very highly” by Campbell, who admitted that the player “wanted to play for Everton” but stated that “the club are moving in another direction”.
Campbell first joined Everton in 1999 on loan and went on to sign permanently the same year, playing for the Goodison Park outfit until 2005, scoring 47 goals in 150 appearances according to Transfermarkt.
