Forgotten Everton midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin could end up making a shock move to Roma amid question marks over his loan spell at CSKA Moscow.
There is growing uncertainty over the situation of foreign players in Russia amid the ongoing conflict surrounding Ukraine.
One such foreign player is Gbamin, who only joined CSKA on loan from Everton on February 21st.
Within a matter of days, the situation between Ukraine and Russia became even worse, meaning safety is now the main concern.
Many foreign players are seeking to leave the area, and Gbamin would be permitted to make another loan move to see out the season.
The main club seeking to sign Gbamin is Roma, with Jose Mourinho allegedly keen to bring the midfielder to Italy if he does leave CSKA according to the Daily Mail.
Everton paid around £25million to sign Gbamin from Mainz in the summer of 2019, securing him to replace Idrissa Gueye in midfield.
However, the Ivorian has really struggled with injuries during his time in England, playing just six times in the Premier League.
Everton decided to let Gbamin go out to CSKA to try and give him some first-team minutes, but that deal could be coming to a very abrupt end.

Gbamin, 26, just can’t catch a break with his career; even leaving Everton has brought its problems for the midfielder.
Heading to Roma would be an interesting move for Gbamin, potentially playing Serie A football under one of the greatest managers in history in Mourinho.
Much will depend on whether players are allowed to leave Russia and play for another club this season, with these extraordinary circumstances possibly opening up another move for Gbamin.
When Gbamin returns to Everton this summer, he will still have two years left on his contract, but it wouldn’t be a surprise at all if he is sold as the Toffees look to cut their losses.
