Everton’s Jarrad Branthwate is likely to join PSV Eindhoven on loan after beating left out of the Toffees’ trip to the United States.

Kevin Thelwell and Frank Lampard have made just the one new signing this summer with James Tarkowski arriving from Burnley.

Tarkowski should provide an immediate boost to Everton’s defence, giving Lampard competition for places.

Ben Godfrey, Michael Keane, Yerry Mina and Mason Holgate will all be in contention alongside Tarkowski at Goodison Park.

That means younger centre backs may need to head out on loan – and Branthwaite is one of them.

The Daily Mail report that Branthwaite is closing in on a move to the Netherlands with PSV Eindhoven.

Lampard left the defender at home as Everton headed on their pre-season tour to the USA, possibly facilitating this loan move.

Branthwaite, 20, only started four Premier League games last season, making an additional two substitute appearances.

Branthwaite needs first-team action and after a 2021 loan move to Blackburn Rovers, he now looks set for another temporary exit.

PSV want to take Branthwaite on loan, which would mean Marcel Brands signing him yet again.

Brands has now returned to former club PSV as director of football and is seeking to raid Everton with a loan for Branthwaite.

The 6ft 5in defender clearly has potential and has attracted surprise interest from Manchester United earlier this year.

That seemed a little premature for a player who is still quite raw, and this loan move to the Netherland seems perfect for him.

Tall and naturally left-footed, Branthwaite should have a great future ahead of him at Everton but playing regularly is the key.

PSV are a huge club with big aspirations in the Eredivisie, so Branthwaite should learn a lot from his year-long trip to the Netherlands if Brands can get the deal done.
