Everton are said to be interested in signing Pedro Obiang from West Ham United.
Everton have been linked with West Ham United’s Pedro Obiang, but there has to be a question of whether he would actually fit in at Goodison Park.
Ronald Koeman’s side are said to be considering making a bid for Obiang, who West Ham rate at £15 million (Liverpool Echo).
The Hammers are keen to keep Obiang, but his current contractual situation has put his future at the London Stadium into some doubt.
The Spanish born midfielder has just two years left on his current deal, and Everton are believed to be monitoring the situation.
Any deal is still some way off, but if Everton did manage to complete the transfer, it is not exactly clear where Obiang would be needed.
The Toffees are already very well stocked in midfield, and although Obiang may be an excellent talent – he would be unlikely to break into Koeman’s starting line-up.
Everton’s midfield axis of Morgan Schneiderlin and Idrissa Gueye is already very strong, and Koeman also has the option to turn to the supremely talented Tom Davies or veteran Gareth Barry.
Everton have also brought in Davy Klaassen this summer, who can operate in a deep lying midfield role.
And although Everton may have an interest in Obiang, they should avoid making a bid, otherwise their squad could start to look very bloated in the central midfield area.
