Everton have joined three Spanish clubs in the race to sign Wilfried Kanon from Den Haag this summer for a cut-price fee of £2m, according to the Sun.

Eibar, Real Betis and Villarreal are also interested in Kanon, with the latter viewing the centre-back as being in a similar mould to fellow countryman Eric Bailly.

What would it mean for Jagielka and Williams?

If the Toffees were to win the race to sign Kanon then is that a sign that either Ashley Williams or Phil Jagielka (or perhaps both) could be leaving Goodison Park this summer?

Ashley Williams of Everton walks down the tunnel after being sent off during the Premier League match between Burnley and Everton at Turf Moor on March 3, 2018 in Burnley, England.

Apparently the Ivory Coast international is being targeted because manager Sam Allardyce wants to overhaul an underachieving squad put together by predecessor Ronald Koeman.

Williams would certainly fall into that category, having failed to impress this term and set to turn 34 in August. Jagielka is still an influential captain but with the Englishman turning 36 in August there are doubts over whether he can still cut it in the Premier League.
