Everton are reportedly in talks to sign Andre Ayew with the Ghana star a free agent after he left Qatari Stars League side Al-Sadd on a free in January – a player that Marcelo Bielsa would have loved, if he had taken over at Everton.

Ayew, 33, has pedigree in the Premier League. While he is not the kind of player to delight Everton fans if he does join the club – as Simon Jordan said earlier – he will give Sean Dyche a new option, after failing to sign anyone in January.

The 113-time Ghana ace is believed to be on his way to England. The Mail claim Everton are in direct talks to sign him. Everton are in desperate need to sign attackers. To give Dyche more tools in attack to keep Everton in the top tier.

Of course, Dyche was hired by Everton ahead of Bielsa. But Ayew would have been a player that Bielsa would loved to have had at Everton – because it would have been a reunion. The two worked together at Marseille during 2014-15.

Everton in talks to sign Ayew: Bielsa would have loved him at Everton

Under the guidance of Bielsa, albeit at the age 25 and 26 in December of that season, Ayew was superb under Bielsa. The ex-West Ham and Swansea man clocked up 30 games in league and cup. Ayew scored 11 goals, and six assists.

A superb return, as Marseille finished in a solid fourth place and qualified for the Europa League group stages. Ayew was a key part of Bielsa’s time at Marseille. At 33, it remains to be seen if he still has what it takes to shine in England.

But, had Bielsa taken the job at Everton ahead of Dyche, it would have been a move that the Argentine would have loved; reuniting with the player he worked with for a season. But instead, if Ayew does join, he will end up with Dyche.
