Everton have produced some good talent over the years, here’s an XI made up of them.
John Ruddy
A bit of a cheat, but Everton should produce better young goalkeepers. Signed from Cambridge United in 2005 he spent the majority of his five years at Goodison Park out on loan.
Now at Norwich City, he has one cap for England.
Eric Dier
Another player who joined Everton late. The Tottenham and England star spent 18 months with the club on loan from Sporting Lisbon, winning the under-18 Premier League title with the side.
Oxford’s James Constable (L) and Everton’s Shkodran Mustafi in action
Shkodran Mustafi
The German joined from Hamburg in 2009 but played just once for the club in a Europa League tie as David Moyes let him leave.
After spells at Sampdoria and Valencia he is now at Arsenal and won the World Cup with Germany in 2014 – nice one Moyesy.
Shane Duffy
The Irishman was often backed for a future at Everton but never truly got a chance. After an incredible season on loan at Yeovil Town he joined Blackburn Rovers in 2014.
Joined Brighton in the summer and looks set for Premier League football next term.
Everton’s Leighton Baines warms up before the match
Leighton Baines
The club’s current long-serving left-back was signed from Wigan Athletic in 2007. However, the Kirkby lad was a youth-team player at Everton before joining up with the academy at Wigan.
Joey Barton
Another, like Baines, who didn’t make the grade at Everton. Released when he was 16 the bad-boy of English football has certainly had a tumultuous career since.
Jack Rodwell
Once considered the future of Everton, and even England, a move to Manchester City in 2012 set his career back.
A string of injuries curtailed his progress and he is now struggling for form at Sunderland.
Everton’s Ross Barkley
Ross Barkley
The England international is still at Everton and is considered one of the club’s hottest prospects in some time.
This season he is really starting to show his worth and Everton fans are pleased to see him thriving.
Victor Anichebe
The powerful Nigerian international was a handful when he first emerged at Everton. Unfortunately injuries have curtailed his career as well. Now at Sunderland with former boss Moyes.
James Vaughan
Still the Premier League’s youngest ever goalscorer. His career has been decimated by injury trouble. However, he is having an excellent campaign with his new club Bury in League One.
Fulham v Everton Rooney Everton
Wayne Rooney
The former Everton talent has certainly done alright for himself.
Manchester United and England captain as well as being his nation’s record goal-scorer. His powers may be dwindling and some Everton fans are calling for an end of career return to Goodison.
