According to The Express, Chelsea are plotting to try and tempt Everton with a cash plus player swap for Romelu Lukaku.

Valuing Lukaku at £70 million, Chelsea reportedly plan to offer £40 million plus Belgian international teammate Michy Batshuayi, who they paid £33 million for last summer.

Big money swap deals always seem a little far fetched, but there is enough going on to suggest this is at least plausible.

Batshuayi has struggled at Chelsea, stuck as Diego Costa’s back up and failing to get any real playing time.

He lacks the profile of Romelu Lukaku, and his days would surely be numbered at Chelsea if his international teammate signed.

He would be a better fit at Everton in terms of his profile, a player eager to reach the top but ready to make the drop down Lukaku did after moving to Chelsea too soon.

Everton also have a long standing interest in the player with The Mirror reporting the Toffees sent scouts to watch him in action for Standard Liege back in 2013, when he was valued at just £8 million.

They were linked again by The Mail in 2014, and just last May L’Equipe reported Everton dispatched scouts to watch Batshuayi starring for Marseille.

Now they would seemingly have a chance to finally land the striker, who netted 23 goals at Marseille last season.
