Leeds United are already showing signs of backing down over their controversial new badge, as Everton once did.

The launch of Leeds United’s new club badge did not go well at all, with the design panned by fans and former players.
Supporters quickly fired up a petition urging Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani to re-consider the proposals, which had attracted more than 40,000 signatures in five hours.
It is never too late to back down, and Radrizzani need only look at Everton to see this.
The Toffees attempted to re-design their badge in 2013, only to be met with a similar if not quite as vociferous response.
More than 27,000 Everton fans signed a petition urging the club not to go ahead, and they listened.

The Guardian reported a grovelling apology from Everton towards their supporters.
It read: “”You have spoken to us loudly and clearly. We have listened. Several meetings and countless discussions have taken place. And, we have reached a decision; a decision that starts with an apology.
“We are sorry. It is clear that you wanted to be involved in the selection of our new club crest. We agree with you and we are sorry we spoiled so many weekends. We regret we didn’t ask every Evertonian about something that matters so much to every one of you.”
It would appear a similar approach from Leeds United would be their only option, as it appears they have made the same mistakes.
Going back to the drawing board is an apt phrase for what needs to happen next at Elland Road, with BBC Sport reporting they are now looking to re-engage with fans.
