Everton are interested in signing Stoke City central defender Harry Souttar as a potential replacement for Yerry Mina, who wants a move to Italy.
That’s according to The Sun, who claim that Duncan Ferguson has been out scouting Souttar lately.
Ferguson knows all about big, strong and imposing centre backs having battled against – and beaten – many in his playing days.
Souttar is now on Everton’s wish list ahead of the 2022 transfer windows, with the Toffees considering whether he can make the step up.
Who is Everton target John Souttar?
Souttar, 22, had a spell with Celtic as a kid before coming through at Dundee United.
Stoke City pounced in 2016, and after loan spells at Ross County and Fleetwood Town, Souttar is now shining.
A huge figure at 6ft 6in tall, Souttar is impressing in the Championship as a dominant centre back.
Whilst brother John represents Scotland, Souttar plays for Australia.
Remarkably, the defender has six goals in six games for his country, showing off his goal threat.
Emulating Tim Cahill with a move to Everton could appeal to Souttar, who still has so much developing ahead of him.

Yerry Mina fancies Everton exit
The report adds that Mina has his heart set on a move to Italy at the end of the season.
Inter Milan and Fiorentina are keen, with Everton preparing for his exit.
The Colombian is starting under Rafa Benitez, but seemingly wants something different as he approaches four years in England.
Mina is a huge presence at the back, and Souttar certainly makes sense as a replacement from a physical perspective.
