Tony Cottee has said on Twitter that Everton should appoint Frank Lampard as their new manager.

The former Everton striker believes that the Goodison Park faithful want Lampard, 43, as their new manager.

Cottee has urged the Everton board to appoint the former Chelsea and Derby County boss as their new boss.

BBC Sport have reported that Lampard is one of the candidates for the Everton managerial job.

Everton owner Farhad Moshiri will reportedly hold a final round of talks on Friday to make a final decision.

Frank Lampard would be good for Everton

In our view, Lampard would be a good managerial appointment for Everton especially in the long term.

Yes, we know that Everton are struggling at the moment, and there is a danger that the Toffees could be sucked into a relegation battle.

Sam Allardyce is one of the few proven managers who is perfect for that scenario.

However, we think that Everton have enough good players to get out of trouble with Lampard in charge.

The former England international midfielder took Derby to the Championship playoff final and then guided Chelsea to the Premier League top four.
