Bookmakers Ladbrokes have made Everton favourites to raid bitter Merseyside rivals Liverpool and sign out-of-favour striker Daniel Sturridge with the January transfer window inching closer.

The Liverpool echo quoted Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp earlier this month as saying he does not want to sell the 28-year-old forward in January, “at this moment we need all our players.”

But Ladbrokes think the England international could still leave the Reds in January, with the 2018 World Cup just over six months away in Russia. Sturridge will be desperate to be on the plane, and a move away from Anfield may be the only way to grab his ticket.

The former Man City and Chelsea striker is as short as 6/4 to join bitter enemies Everton, who are crying out for a proven Premier League goalscorer after selling Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United last summer.

However, Everton are not the only side in the running, with West Ham priced at a close second at odds of 7/4 to land Sturridge’s signature, as he remains out-of-favour behind Roberto Firmino in the pecking order.

Newcastle United are third favourites at 7/2, while Southampton and Crystal Palace are also said to be in the running at slightly larger shot of 6/1.

Liverpool’s number 15 still has two years remaining on his current Anfield contract, but has managed just four starts all season for the Reds. Making 12 appearances in total, the Birmingham-born ace has scored three times.
