Everton fans appear to be of the opinion that Sam Allardyce should give Luke Garbutt a chance to impress.

Garbutt has not featured at all for Everton this campaign, as Ronald Koeman did not register him at the start of the term.

Garbutt is Everton’s only natural senior left-back, who is available to them at the moment, but Sam Allardyce confirmed to the Liverpool Echo that the 24-year-old had not even been training with the first-team.

Luke Garbutt of Everton walks on to the field ahead of the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 match between Everton FC and FC Dynamo Kyiv on March 12, 2015 in Liverpool, United Kingdom.

He said: “My understanding is that he wasn’t included in the 25-man squad at the start of the season, so he hasn’t been training with us. We’ve got until the end of January to assess players who haven’t been included in that squad.”

Garbutt has played regularly for Everton’s development squad this season, where he has put in some impressive performances.

And Toffees fans have appealed for Allardyce to give Garbutt a chance on Saturday, when they take on Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.

Allardyce has been forced to use Cuco Martina out of position at left-back so far this season, and the summer signing has not looked comfortable.

Everton are currently on a five match winless streak, so Allardyce could be tempted to make changes against Spurs.
