A number of fans have been commenting on Twitter about Everton midfielder Tom Davies captaining the England Under-21s to victory against their Austrian counterparts, with a mixed reaction regarding the Toffees man’s display during the game but largely positive feedback come full time.

The Goodison Park academy graduate played the full 90 minutes for the Young Lions and was good for the most part with a composed display in the middle of the park, although he did spurn a gilt-edged opportunity from close range and arguably failed to track his runner as the opponents grabbed a consolation.

Here is some of the social media reaction to Davies’ display for his nation, mostly from Everton fans with a few neutrals:

Leeds loanee and Arsenal academy graduate Eddie Nketiah scored a hat-trick for England U21s while Chelsea teenager Callum Hudson-Odoi grabbed a brace as Aidy Boothroyd’s charges maintained their 100 percent winning record in Euro 2021 qualifying by easing past their opponents at Stadium MK.

Everton return to Premier League action this Saturday as they host West Ham at Goodison Park in the day’s early kickoff and the £13.5million-valued midfielder (Transfermarkt) will be hoping to add to his two appearances for Marco Silva’s charges, who are currently in the bottom three of the table.
