The Everton forward has been frozen out by Marco Silva at Goodison Park and played for David Unsworth’s side last night.

A number of Everton fans have been commenting on Twitter about Oumar Niasse’s inclusion and performance for the Toffees Under-21s last night.

The 29-year-old has long been out of favour at Goodison Park, his previous game for Everton at any level coming back December 2018 in the senior side’s 1-0 defeat away to Brighton, coming off the bench after 80 minutes on that occasion (Liverpool Echo).

Everton boss Marco Silva has included Niasse – who failed to secure a move away in the summer – in parts of certain training sessions but has told the player that he does not feature in his plans this season (Liverpool Echo).

As a result, the £13.5million (The Guardian) man’s best hopes of football for the time being are at reserve level and David Unsworth included the Senegal international in his starting XI for the EFL Trophy trip to Crewe, where he put in an impressive display.

Niasse scored a brace and could have had several more as the match finished 2-2 after 90 minutes and, even though Everton lost the ensuing penalty shootout 5-4 to miss the chance of an extra point, still progressed to the knockout stages of the competition for the first time in their four seasons of involvement.

Here is what some Everton fans on social media made of Niasse’s inclusion and display for the U21s on the night:
