The Toffees have expanded on last week’s Twitter update in which the Goodison Park club would play in a “European-based tournament”.

Everton have finally confirmed the “European-based tournament” in which they will compete in pre-season.
The Toffees announced on their official website and social media channels on Tuesday that they will be taking part in the Opel Cup on Saturday 27 July in Germany.
The three-team mini-tournament, which also features Mainz and Sevilla, will be held at the 34,000-capacity Opel Arena in Mainz.
As per the tournament format, it will take place on one day, with each match lasting 60 minutes, with kickoff times to be announced.
Last week, some Everton fans were not impressed with the club’s “cryptic” announcement, making their feelings known on Twitter and attempting to guess where it would be.
Here is how some supporters reacted to the latest update:
The Premier League club unveiled the bulk of their pre-season programme earlier this month, beginning with a trip to Kenya to face Kariobangi Sharks in the SportPesa Trophy in Nairobi’s Kasarani Stadium on Sunday 7 July.
After that, Marco Silva and his charges will head to Switzerland for a training camp, with games against FC Sion on Sunday 14 July and AS Monaco on Friday 19 July, both in the municipality of Bagnes.
Everton will then play Wigan Athletic away on Wednesday 24 July before taking part in the Opel Cup on Saturday 27 July and then wrapping up their programme with a trip to Werder Bremen on Saturday 3 August.
