The Toffees academy star has swapped Goodison Park for the Pirelli Stadium this season.

A number of Everton fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the news that highly rated Toffees academy star Nathan Broadhead has signed a new contract at Goodison Park and joined League One side Burton Albion on loan for the 2019-20 season (official Everton website).

The 21-year-old winger, who joined the Everton academy aged 10, was an important member of David Unsworth’s Under-23s squad that won the Premier League 2 title as well as the Premier League Cup, crucially grabbing four goals and three assists in the process.

Broadhead, a Wales youth international, featured in every single league game for the U23s last term and only failed to complete a full match on three occasions, all of which helped to earn him the Under-23s Player of the Season award.

The attacker was subsequently summoned by Wales manager Ryan Giggs for a national team training camp in the Algarve, and this season he has very much continued where he left off as he featured plentifully for Marco Silva’s first team in pre-season, including in last Saturday’s game against Mainz in Germany.

Broadhead, who has made one senior appearance for Everton so far, has penned a two-year deal which takes him to the summer of 2021 and will link up with Nigel Clough’s Brewers, who finished ninth in League One last season and will commence the 2019-20 campaign at home against Ipswich Town.
