The Goodison Park summer signing is expected to miss at least eight weeks due to a thigh injury suffered in the Toffees training camp.

A number of Everton fans have taken to Twitter to bemoan the announcement about Toffees summer signing Jean-Philippe Gbamin facing at least eight weeks out with a thigh injury.
The 23-year-old midfielder featured in Everton’s first two games of the season, making his Premier League debut off the bench at Crystal Palace before starting against Watford.
Gbamin, who joined from German club Mainz for an undisclosed fee reported by BBC Sport as being £25million, missed Friday’s 2-0 loss away at Aston Villa after sustaining what the club described as a “significant” injury in training.
On Tuesday, Everton confirmed that the Ivory Coast ace sustained a tendon injury in his right quadriceps muscle which will keep him out for at least eight weeks, and that they are engaging in “communication with leading experts around Europe to ensure the optimal outcome”.
In conversation with the Liverpool Echo ahead of Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup meeting with Lincoln City, Marco Silva was unable to dismiss the possibility that Gbamin could have to go under the knife to solve the problem.
“Let’s see, it is not something we are sure about,” he told the local outlet. “We have two different ways and we will take the final decision in the next few days to be able to start the player’s recovery and get him back as fast as we can.”
The news did not go down well amongst the Everton fanbase and quite a few Evertonians took to social media to curse their luck:
Everton signed Gbamin and Fabian Delph to fill the gap left by Idrissa Gueye’s departure to Paris St-Germain and, as reported by BBC Sport, it is hoped that the latter will return imminently after nursing a groin problem picked up in pre-season.
