The Toffees midfielder’s display for Marco Silva and co at Goodison Park yesterday has come under some criticism.

A number of Everton fans have been giving their thoughts on the Toffees’ display in the 3-1 defeat to Manchester City at Goodison Park and one of the players who came under considerable scrutiny was Gylfi Sigurdsson.
The 30-year-old has had a poor campaign so far and, although he had arguably one of his better performances this term, he still didn’t really impose himself on the game and looked like he was struggling in the latter stages.
Given Sigurdsson’s 2018-19 campaign was also quite indifferent, it seems like quite a few Everton fans are starting to lose patience with him, and some made their feelings known on social media:
Everton put in a battling display against the domestic treble champions as Dominic Calvert-Lewin equalised for the Toffees just after the half hour mark, cancelling out Gabriel Jesus’ opener on 24 minutes.
However, Riyad Mahrez put the visitors back in front when he beat Jordan Pickford with a free kick into the bottom corner from 20 yards out, and Raheem Sterling made sure of victory for Pep Guardiola’s side when he fired home off the bar with his left foot, VAR confirmed the ball had crossed the line.
Up next for Marco Silva’s side is their Premier League trip to Burnley next Saturday.
