The Toffees confirmed that the Wales captain will leave Goodison Park when his contract expires later this month.

Everton have published their retained list following the conclusion of the 2018-19 Premier League season, with one particular player update receiving a very positive response from much of the Toffees fanbase.
Ashley Williams joined the Goodison Park outfit from Swansea City in 2016 for a reported £12million (BBC Sport) but unfortunately his time in the blue shirt was not the most fruitful, to put it kindly.
The Wales captain, 34, made 73 appearances for the Premier League side, scoring three goals and registering three assists in all competitions according to Transfermarkt.
However, Williams spent last season on loan at Stoke City in the Championship after being deemed surplus to requirements on Merseyside following Marco Silva’s arrival at the club.
On Friday, Everton confirmed that the defender would be leaving the club upon the expiry of his contract at the end of June.
Here is how some Everton fans on Twitter reacted to the news that Williams was officially on the way out of Goodison Park:
Williams will join fellow centre-back Phil Jagielka in leaving Everton after it was confirmed on Tuesday that the Toffees captain was to depart after 12 years at the club.
