Everton got back to winning ways in the Premier League as Theo Walcott gave them a narrow victory.

A number of Everton fans have taken to social media to criticise Wayne Rooney’s performance during the Toffees’ win over Newcastle United on Monday night, with some suggesting that the 32-year-old appears to simply be going through the motions at the moment.
Everton went into the game with the Magpies off the back of a three game run which had seen them lose to Manchester City before earning draws with Liverpool and Swansea to essentially dash any hope the club had of catching Burnley in seventh.

Defeat to Newcastle would have not only seen Sam Allardyce’s men fall down to 10th in the table, but it would have also left them within touching distance of a number of bottom-half sides.
Luckily, Theo Walcott scored the game’s only goal early on in the second-half to ensure that Everton got back to winning ways. However, while the win may have been secured, there were a number of fans who were less than impressed with Rooney’s display.

The Englishman was fairly wasteful when he had the ball and struggled to make a major impact on the game, and that has led to plenty of criticism on social media.
One fan suggested that forgotten man Davy Klaassen deserves a chance in the middle of the park ahead of Rooney, while others believe that he is not on the level that he needs to be to be a regular starter for the Toffees.
