Everton haven’t been in great form of late, but some patience is needed.

Some Everton fans are understandably disappointed after their side slumped to a 2-1 defeat away at Southampton on Saturday afternoon.
The Toffees had got back to winning ways with a 2-0 win over Bournemouth at Goodison Park, but couldn’t follow that up at St Mary’s Stadium
James Ward-Prowse put the Saints in front before Lucas Digne own goal, and whilst Gylfi Sigurdsson pulled one back, Everton fell to defeat.
It’s now six defeats in 10 for Everton, picking up just eight points from a possible 30 after losing just three of the first 13 games.
Boss Marco Silva is coming under increasing pressure, and some fans are a little disgruntled at Everton sitting 11th in the Premier League table.
This isn’t exactly what Everton fans had in mind, but they should remember what director of football Marcel Brands told majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri about his plans.
As quoted by The Telegraph back in August, Brands told Moshiri that he would not be a ‘quick fix’ appointment to enjoy success this season, but more of a long-term solution to try and bring stability to Goodison Park.

“When I spoke with (Farhad Moshiri) before I came in, I told him that if you want success next year don’t look for me because I cannot bring that,” said Brands.“You saw in the past in the Premier League that if you only spend money, that is not the guarantee for success. You see the clubs with the long-term strategy. They are in a stable situation. Look at Tottenham, look at Manchester City with Txiki (Begiristain). He is already there six years. It is important for Everton to get to a stable situation. We have a lot of work to do at this fantastic club,” he added.
This is a long-term project for Brands, and yes result are disappointing right now, but the Dutchman knew that this season would be a transition year in terms of a new manager, new players and a new style of play.
Brands’ signings have mostly impressed, so once he has a chance to offload the remnants of the Roberto Martinez, Ronald Koeman and Sam Allardyce eras, Everton should be in a much stronger position. Patience is hard to come by in the Premier League, but Toffees fans should stick with Brands’ plan, and give Silva some time to work with the Brands project.
