Everton are said to be interested in signing Kevin Gameiro from Atletico Madrid.

According to the Daily Mirror, Everton are lining up a bid for Atletico Madrid striker Kevin Gameiro in January, and that should excite supporters at Goodison Park.

Everton had been linked with PSG’s Edinson Cavani in the Daily Mail recently, but those links seemed farfetched.

Cavani’s future at PSG may be insecure, but it would be a major surprise if Everton were able to bring the Uruguayan to Merseyside.

The Toffees would stand a strong chance of landing Gameiro though, and he would be just as exciting an addition.

Gameiro possesses enough pace to stretch defences, and his clinical finishing is exactly what Everton have been lacking.

The Toffees have struggled without Romelu Lukaku so far, with Oumar Niasse and Wayne Rooney the only players in Ronald Koeman’s side with a Premier League goal to their name.

Gameiro’s arrival at Everton would significantly improve the Toffees’ attacking threat though, and he may be needing a way out of Atletico.

Diego Simeone’s side are loaded with options up-front, with Diego Costa set to join Antoine Griezmann and Angel Correa at the club in 2018.

It gives Everton an opportunity to bring Gameiro to Goodison Park, and Koeman should make sure his side seize their chance, as he could be just what the Toffees have been looking for.
