Rafael Benitez is under huge pressure at Everton – and majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri is reportedly considering a move to bring Wayne Rooney back.

Rooney back to Everton rumoured

The Sun claim that Moshiri wants Benitez to succeed but is having to consider other options after a dismal run of form.

Benitez has taken just five points from a possible 30. Everton fans are furious at the moment and are demanding changes.

Moshiri is thought to be compiling contingency plans for a new Everton boss, with Rooney on the wish list.

It’s even claimed that preliminary contact has been made with Rooney to figure out a potential move.

Rooney has performed admirably at Derby under testing circumstances amid all their off-field issues.

An Everton player in two spells, Rooney has more of a connection with Toffees fans than Benitez, but fans still don’t seem convinced…

Everton fans react

Everton supported have been taking to Twitter to react to the rumours, with a belief that Rooney just isn’t the answer.

Some think this idea smacks of panic from Moshiri, desperate to get fans back on side.

The problem is that Rooney just isn’t experienced enough in the eyes of Everton fans.

Others think this would be a case of ‘from the frying pan and into the fire’, feeling it could even worse under Rooney.
