The Toffees ace believes his strike against Burnley should not have been given as an own goal to the opposition.
Everton have picked up a crucial victory in their hopes of securing Europa League football as they ran out 2-0 winners over Burnley in Friday night’s Premier League clash at Goodison Park.
The hosts, playing their final home game of the season, went ahead in the 17th minute as a Richarlison shot was diverted into the net by Clarets defender Ben Mee.
Just three minutes later, Seamus Coleman headed home after Tom Heaton had made a save to put Marco Silva’s charges in cruise control against the Lancashire side.
Sean Dyche’s charges were improved in the second half, mustering their first shot on target just before the hour.
Johann Berg Gudmundsson then threatened a few minutes later, but Burnley were unable to get even a consolation against the Merseysiders.
Everton have now won four successive home games as well as edging above Leicester City into eighth spot ahead of the Foxes’ game against Manchester City on Monday night.
