West Ham United are in the market for a new right back having seen Ryan Fredericks pick up an injury against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.
The Hammers released Pablo Zabaleta and lost Jeremy Ngakia at the end of the season, and need another option there rather than piling pressure on youngster Ben Johnson.
A bizarre rumour emerged even before the Wolves game, as The Mirror (27/09, p70) claim that West Ham are keen on signing Seamus Coleman.
It was stated that David Moyes wants a reunion with the Irishman, having worked with him at Everton in the early stages of the defender’s career.
Ultimately, a move seems highly unlikely. Coleman is Everton captain, and has enjoyed a fine start to the season under Carlo Ancelotti.
Letting the 31-year-old leave now – with two years left on his deal and as he gets back to his best – wouldn’t make much sense.

Coleman himself shouldn’t really be considering a move to a West Ham side hovering above the relegation zone in recent years, and Everton fans just can’t see it happening.
Some believe the move would ‘never happen’, branding West Ham ‘deluded’ if they think they can snap up Coleman.
Others claim the rumours are a ‘joke’, and that selling Coleman now would be stupid due to his great form.
