The 29-year-old former Arsenal star started the match and played for 78 minutes, as Marco Silva’s side lost 2-1.
Paul Pogba put United in the lead in the 27th minute, and Anthony Martial added a second on 49 minutes.
Gylfi Sigurdsson pulled one back for Everton from the penalty spot in the 77th minute, but the Merseyside outfit failed to find the equaliser.
The defeat to Jose Mourinho’s side means that the Toffees are now ninth in the Premier League table with 15 points from 10 matches.
