Everton suffered late frustration as they could only draw 1-1 at home with Crystal Palace on Monday evening.

The Toffees had taken the lead in the second half, with James Rodriguez opening the scoring after seeing Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin squander big chances.

It looked like Everton would claim all three points, but Michy Batshuayi popped up with a late goal to give the Eagles a share of the spoils, firing past Robin Olsen.

Everton’s recent home form has been a little disappointing, and Monday’s result will have left Carlo Ancelotti feeling pretty deflated.

There were some bright spots, with Rodriguez impressive on his return to the side, whilst defender Seamus Coleman enjoyed a fine outing at right back.

The Irishman is 32 now, and isn’t quite the player he was, meaning Everton could sign another right back this summer, but he was in fine form on Monday.

Coleman could have had an assist in the first half as Richarlison headed his cross over, but he did then set up Rodriguez for Everton’s opener.

Fans have been taking to Twitter to react to Coleman’s display, calling him ‘excellent’ and ‘brilliant’ whilst proving he is far from ‘finished’ as some have been claiming.

Others believe Coleman had a ‘stormer’, and taking him off in the second half actually resulted in Everton failing to win.
