Everton fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to the performance of Romelu Lukaku for Manchester United against Manchester City at the weekend.

Former Everton striker Lukaku featured for United in the Premier League game against City in the Manchester derby on Sunday evening.

The 24-year-old Belgium international striker started the Premier League game at Old Trafford and played for the entire 90 minutes.

The former Chelsea man failed to make an impact, as Jose Mourinho’s side lost the Manchester derby 2-1.

Lukaku joined United from Premier League rivals Everton in the summer transfer window for an initial fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £75 million.

Everton fans have mocked the United striker for failing to play well against City.

Everton were also in action in the Premier League on Sunday, as they played out a 1-1 draw with Liverpool away from home at Anfield in the Merseyside derby.

Former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Danny Murphy was impressed with the performance of Everton defensive midfielder Idrissa Gueye.

The Liverpool Echo quotes Murphy as saying about Gueye: “It was the best game I have seen him have this season. He was great last season.

“He epitomised everything Everton were about today. I’m talking about running back, making tackles, putting your body on the line.

“Even in parts of the game when they looked like they could be steamrollered three or four, he was in there helping out the young lads at the back.”
