When Everton signed Michael Keane from Burnley back in the summer it was hailed as a masterstroke. And yet the 24-year-old has struggled to adapt to life at the Toffees, not least because his teammates are playing so damn poorly.

However, Keane’s performance in the 1-1 draw against Brighton and Hove Albion this weekend was one of the few bright spots for Everton’s fans, and if he can build on this outing he could quickly become the centre-back the Toffees thought they were signing in the first place.

With Ashley Williams dropped to the bench after a run of awful performances, Keane started alongside Phil Jagielka and set about imposing himself on the game as best he could.
