Everton have a chance to potentially help Liverpool in the Premier League title race.

Everton fans on Twitter completely disagree with what manager Marco Silva has said today.

The Portuguese was speaking to the media ahead of Wednesday’s visit of Manchester City.

Defeat for Everton would be a sixth in nine games across all competitions, but there would be a silver lining for Everton supporters.

If Silva’s side lose then their Merseyside rivals Liverpool will be leapfrogged by Pep Guardiola’s side, who will have played a game more.

Here is what Silva told a press conference, via Sky Sports: “What I want, and what is my feeling about title race is not to look at that fight. We know what is our fight. Our fans want us winning the game.”

But it looks like quite a few Everton fans don’t want victory at Goodison Park tomorrow.

It must be noted that a lot of Everton fans don’t want to lose, even if three points for them benefits Liverpool in the Premier League title race.

Even though the Toffees – 15 points adrift of the top five, but 11 clear of the bottom three – have little to play for, there is still professional pride at stake and it’s easy to understand why some fans don’t want a walkover just to spite Liverpool.
